Introduction:
Africa Policy Institute (API), is an independent, not-for-profit Pan-African think tank that is providing policy-relevant research and analysis for Africa’s solutions in security, governance, and strategic issues. Established in 2007, API has helped governments, civil societies, as well as regional and international organizations, to create a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Africa and the world at large. As an Institute, our core mission is to conduct in-depth policy research, training, and consultancy that contributes toward policy solutions in Africa on governance, strategy, and security issues through partnership platforms and advocacy.
With a dedicated team of experts/scholars and a clear vision established by our international advisory board and our eminent President/Chief Executive, the institute has grown exponentially. The Institute (API) has four centers, each focusing on different core thematic issues that define our areas of collaboration and Research. These are the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Policy, China-Africa Center, Center on Forced Displacement, and the Horn Center for Security Analysis, with a cutting edge for dialogue forums known as the Ukumbi and Uongozi Forums. As an institute, our partners and networks, ranging from Governments, Regional and International organizations such as the African Union and the United Nations Agencies, and Institutions of Higher Learning.
In collaboration with our partners, API provides in-depth Policy Research and Analysis, Capacity Building and Training, Policy Advocacy and Dialogue, Networking and Partnerships in governance, humanitarian matters, peace, and security. Through our networks, API has created a niche as a preferred institute for organizing high-level policy dialogues in the form of conferences, policy forums, workshops, symposiums, and public debates. Through these engagements, the API has and continues to build governments’ capacities in policy research, training media personalities on investigative research, and also undertaking political management training in partnership with other organizations.
