Dear colleagues,

I believe the emerging Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation opens an important conversation for all of us within the Global Thinkers Community.

One of the most promising aspects of this initiative is that it recognises cooperation not only as something that happens between governments, but as an ecosystem that can also include United Nations entities, development banks, academia, civil society, private sector actors, foundations, experts, think tanks and policy networks.

This is particularly relevant because many solutions across the Global South already exist. What is often needed is stronger visibility, better connection, practical matchmaking and clearer pathways to move from ideas to implementation.

The upcoming South-South Galaxy+ platform appears to respond to that need by creating a space where development priorities, good practices, expertise, resources and cooperation opportunities can be better connected. For those of us working across regions, especially between Africa and Latin America, this can become a meaningful tool to identify partners, share experiences and contribute to more practical cooperation outcomes.

I also see this as a timely opportunity to think about how countries with very active cooperation exchanges, strong institutions, dynamic private sectors and rich development experience can engage more intentionally in this new ecosystem. In contexts like Nigeria, for example, there is tremendous potential to connect existing knowledge, institutions and actors to broader South-South and triangular cooperation opportunities.

The value of the Alliance will not only be in joining a platform, but in how we use it: to share priorities, offer expertise, request support, participate in communities of practice, and help shape cooperation that is demand-driven, inclusive and results-oriented.

I would therefore like to warmly invite members of the Global Thinkers Community to visit the UNOSSC page and take a moment to glimpse through the documents on the Global Alliance and the South-South Galaxy+ platform.

They provide a useful entry point for us to understand the direction of this initiative and reflect on how we, as thinkers, practitioners and bridge-builders, can contribute our regional perspectives, ideas and experiences to this evolving platform for action.

So lets join the era of turning Cooperation Potential into Collective Action !

Mar!
